Climb Sublime Point for Breathtaking Views

Embark on a picturesque drive from Wollongong to Sublime Point lookout, around 20 minutes from central Wollongong. As you climb the mountain, enjoy the changing scenery before reaching the lookout. It’s only around 700m to the top, but be warned, it is pretty steep and there are heaps of stairs! The climb should take around 35-45 minutes. The reward at the top is unparalleled - a panoramic view stretching across Wollongong, the coastline, and the majestic Illawarra Escarpment. Take in the breathtaking vistas, capturing the beauty of the region from this elevated vantage point.

Belmore Falls Hike in Morton National Park, Robertson

A scenic drive of approximately 1 hour from Wollongong takes you to Robertson, the gateway to Morton National Park. Lace up your hiking boots and embark on a trek through lush forests to discover the gorgeous Belmore Falls. It’s just under a 2km hike and should take around an hour. And after all that walking, you’re sure to have built up a pretty big appetite. Luckily for you, there’s a local gem nearby. Don’t miss a visit to the famous Robertson Pie Shop after your hike. Whether you pick a sweet or savoury pie, you can’t really go wrong - though we’re partial to the Chicken, Leek and Camembert and chunky steak pies.

Sri Venkateswara Temple & Glow Worm Tunnels in Helensburgh

Go on a spiritual detour at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Helensburgh, just a 30-minute drive away. Dive into the tranquility of this stunning Hindu temple.

Afterward, immerse yourself in the mesmerising glow worm (or Arachnocampa Richardsae if we’re being fancy) tunnels nearby. As the day fades, watch these glow worms light up the darkness, turning the tunnels into a magical spectacle.

Nan Tien Temple

Make a quick 15-minute drive to the Nan Tien Temple, the biggest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere. Immerse yourself in the serenity of this beautifully designed temple surrounded by lush landscapes. Explore the grounds, join guided tours, participate in meditation sessions, and get the lowdown on Buddhist culture and practices. Plus, there's a vegetarian restaurant on-site dishing out tasty meals.

Explore Wollongong’s Cycling Tracks

Wollongong’s coastline is famous for its beauty, but driving in a car means whizzing past it without much time for appreciation - even if it is in a GoGet car. Slow down and take in the views by cruising the coast by bike. North of Wollongong you can ride over Sea Cliff Bridge - an Instagram sensation for a reason! The ride south to Thirroul is one of the most popular in the state.

If mountain bike thrills are more your speed, head to Cringila Hills Bike Park (a short train or cycle from the centre), a former landfill that’s been transformed into a 12km network of urban mountain biking. Alternatively, drive 25 min out of Wollongong (two hours by bike) to Greenvalleys Mountain Bike Park for one of the very best mountain bike experiences in the area.

Natural Wonders at Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures

Drive under an hour to Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures for an exhilarating experience amidst nature. Walk among the treetops on elevated walkways, offering stunning views of the surrounding rainforest and coastline. For those seeking an extra thrill, don't miss the chance to soar through the treetops on the Illawarra Fly Zipline Tour. This exhilarating adventure allows you to glide through the forest canopy, offering an adrenaline-pumping experience while admiring the stunning natural beauty of the region. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, an adventure seeker, or simply looking for a serene escape, the Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures provides an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Australian wilderness.
