The Watershed is a Sustainability Resource Centre located at 218 King Street in the heart of Newtown.
You can see them here:
The WaterShed
A watershed is a ridge line or crest line dividing two catchment
areas. King Street lies on a ridge line, which divides the catchment
areas of Sydney Harbour and Botany Bay. Rain falling north of King
Street flows via Johnstons Creek to Sydney Harbour while rain falling
south of King Street flows via the Cooks River and Alexandra Canal to
Botany Bay. The resulting runoff flowing over pavements and through
gutters picks up pollutants such as litter, sediments, oil and pet
waste which then ends up in local waterways. Stormwater pollution is a
major challenge in our area.
Yet a watershed can also mean
a definitive change, or turning point. We hope that a visit to The
Watershed will be an inspiration to take positive action for a
sustainable future.
We love them. And Bazza loves them too. |
