Waverley Council has provided two locations, called ‘pods’, at Bondi Beach
and at Bondi Junction for GoGet vehicles. GoGet was the successful tenderer for carshare services to residents of the LGA.
"This new service has some great benefits for the environment. One
GoGet car replaces up to ten privately owned vehicles on the road,
reducing congestion, emissions and parking problems," said the Mayor,
Cr Mora Main.
Waverley Council has provided two locations, called 'pods', at Bondi
Beach and at Bondi Junction where the cars will be parked. GoGet,
Australia's oldest and largest car share service, already successfully
operates across inner-city Sydney and Melbourne. Waverley is the first
Council in NSW to provide dedicated parking spaces so that members will
be able to pick cars up from the same spot every time.
"Bondi Beach is an icon of that relaxed Australian lifestyle, and
let's face it, owning and driving a car in Sydney at the moment is
anything but relaxed. Now Eastern Suburbs residents can do away with
the hassles and costs of owning and parking a car on crowded streets,
insteading grabbing a new GoGet car whenever they need one," says GoGet
Founder Bruce Jeffreys. For more information, see http://www.waverley.nsw.gov.au/council/cats/carshare.asp
GoGet sincerely thanks the staff and councillors as well as a number of residents who helped get the service going in the Waverley area. |
