Merry Christmas, GoGetters! We have great gifts for everyone on your list, plus a few surprises for our littlest members! The GoGet office has been getting into the festive spirit, too – head to our Facebook page to check out the Christmas make-overs we gave our utes!
If you’re planning on getting away for the holidays, we have you sorted with a great deal when you book seven days or more, plus our regular daily specials board. Drive safe, have a merry Christmas and a great new year!
Just in time for Christmas, we now have a new pod at Melbourne Airport! We’ve partnered with Andrew’s Airport Parking at Tullamarine, who have provided parking for a Yaris and a Corolla onsite, just a short ride from the terminal by the free airport shuttle.
It’s great news for any GoGetters travelling interstate who will need a car for a few days while they’re in town. Now you can pick up a car as soon as you touch down and drop it off before you fly out.
We’re thrilled to be working with Andrew’s Airport Parking and look forward to the possibility of adding even more cars at the airport.
Christmas booking deal
If getting your travel plans sorted is still on your holiday to-do list, we’re here with a deal that is sure to spread the festive spirit!
Book one of our everyday cars (Yaris, i30, Accent, Corolla or wagon) from the CBD for seven days or more between Monday December 16 and Friday January 31, 2014 and we’ll discount your booking, saving you up to $34 per day! You’ll still get 150km each day and petrol on us!
It’s first in, best dressed. To take up this offer, call us now on 1300 769 389 and we’ll make you a booking.
Check out GoGet’s bells and tinsel!
Oh, what fun it is to ride in a GoGet open sleigh!
The whole GoGet team is getting in to the Christmas spirit and a bit of friendly competition only helps keep things interesting! Our car park became the battle ground for a ute-decorating competition between the three Sydney GoGet departments last week – all for a good cause! Each team has chosen a charity to play for and the team with the best ute – as picked by you – will get the revenue from all three utes for the month of December to donate to their charity.
Our Fleet crew is playing for Kids Under Cover, which helps prevent youth homelessness, the Marketing and Pods team are supporting Redkite, which supports kids with cancer and our Member Services team chose the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, which helps people living with HIV.
Give the gift of GoGet
Looking for the perfect gift for the person who has everything? Or maybe you want to make this a green Christmas for someone you know? We have you sorted with gift vouchers for new members! Buy a gift voucher for a friend to sign up for free – and they’ll get some extra credit in their pocket to really get them going! Choose from one of our three voucher options:
- GoStarter membership – pay $49 and receive a voucher for free sign up plus $50 credit – $99 total value
- GoOccasional membership – pay $79 and receive a voucher for free sign up and $80 credit – $159 total value
- GoFrequent membership – pay $199 and receive a voucher for free sign up and $200 credit – $399 total value
To buy a voucher, call us on 1300 679 389 and we’ll send you a fun gift pack to give to the next GoGetter. Vouchers can be purchased for new accounts only.
If your special someone is already a member, you can also buy a voucher for driving credit. Give them a day out in a GoGet for a holiday to remember!
For the littlest GoGetters
If you find a surprise visitor in your child seat this month, don’t be alarmed. In fact, that little visitor is there to share the ride with your little passenger! In the lead up to Christmas, we’ll be playing Santa and delivering toys to some of our child-friendly cars for your little one to take home (so if you’re a big kid, maybe leave the toys where they are for someone littler than you!)
Cars in Burwood
Thanks to UltraTune in Burwood, there is now an i30 wagon parked in the UltraTune car park at 44 Belmore Street. Partnerships with businesses and developments that provide off-street parking are a great way to bring car share to new areas. Thank you to UltraTune for providing this space for local residents and businesses!
Marrickville Council support
GoGet relies on council support to make carsharing as convenient and sustainable as possible – which is why we’re so thrilled with Marrickville Council’s new policy!
Last month, Marrickville Council voted in favour of a new car sharing scheme that paves the way for more on-street dedicated bays for car share vehicles and bays in off-street developments. This means there will be more cars available in better locations for our Marrickville members.
Checking it Twice
Checking it Twice is a free Christmas gift advice service that provides advice for gifts that are good to people, animals and the planet. You can browse ethical gift ideas or ask for customised suggestions about sustainable gifts ideas.
It’s simple. Just go to the Checking it Twice website, fill out some basic information about your gift recipients and your budget, if you like, and voila! The service will generally respond to your request within a few hours with ideas for the perfect gift. Or, you can browse suggestions from other people on the site for some inspiration.
Checking it Twice is run by Ethical Consumers Australia, an independent non-profit organisation that exists to make it easier for people to make ethical consumer choices. Go to the Otter website for more information about Ethical Consumers Australia or to sign up to their monthly newsletter.

Tip of the month
Even after Christmas, it’s still busy in the city, as we get ready for New Year’s celebrations. Be sure to keep an eye out for any changes to parking rules when parking your car if you’ll be driving over New Years. We’ll do our best to inform you if there are parking restrictions in a particular area, but look for road closures and clear ways that are in place when you’re parking your car and that may be in place soon after your booking.
If you’re not able to park in your pod, please park in the closest legal, unmetered spot and text the car’s name and street location to 0427 777 769. Most of our cars have parking permits, so check if your car has one to make parking a little easier.
Cool things members are doing
Even if you’re not taking off on a Summer holiday, GoGet members Byron Woolfrey and Christopher Thomas can still give you the sort of service you’d expect at 10,000 feet – but without the altitude or the miniature spirits bottles!
Trolley’d is a fleet of mobile bars made of recycled Ansett Airline trolleys. The boys mix cocktails from local organic and native Australian ingredients with a strong ethos towards sustainability – so they joined GoGet and have been using vans for all their transportation needs.
“We use the GoGet van to get us to and from functions, for early morning trips to the markets and even when we need to take our bars interstate,” Byron said. “GoGet seems to be the most economical way of getting us around.”
That’s it for the year! Thank you to all the new and old members who have been with us over the year – we hope 2014 is a great year for all our members. From all of us, have a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year!
Bruce, Nic and the GoGet team
