This month, it’s all about doing good – we’ll help you earn a little extra driving credit on the side, introduce you to “crowd farming”, get you moving with a great bike share offer and we even have an idea to help you feel a bit better about yourself after a big night out – yes, really!
If you don’t have a car booked for the Easter long weekend, there’s still plenty of time to book a GoGet – but they can get pretty popular this time of year, so hop to it! Check our Specials Board for a great deal on our daily rate.
Refer a friend and get $25 credit!
Ahh, we love those good GoGet vibrations our members are putting out on the road. As a thank you, if you refer a friend this month who signs up, we’ll give you both $25 driving credit!
Just ask your friend, colleague or neighbour to mention your name when they call or put your name in the “Who was the member that told you about us” box on the online sign up form!
No kilometre charge on EVs!
We’ve removed the kilometre charge from our electric vehicles, so now there’s one more reason to get greener than ‘Bruce Banner’ and give our electric vehicles a try!
Can’t wait to GoGet on the road again!
Think the Easter Bunny has a sweet job, travelling around delivering little treats and bringing joy? Well, now you can play gift-giver to your fellow Melbourne members! We need members to drive cars from Sydney down to Melbourne in time for the long weekend.
You’ll get three days to take a Yaris (or maybe even something fancier) on a one-way trip to Melbourne with 1200km and all the usual inclusions, like petrol, for free! All you have to do is make sure the car arrives in Melbourne by Wednesday March 27.
If you’d like to take a car for longer, any extra days will be $49 per day, which includes 150km each day. Extra kilometres are then charged at $0.25/km. If you’re up for a good old road trip, please fill in this form. We have a few pick up points in Sydney and drop off points in central Melbourne, so let us know where you’ll be in each city and we’ll do our best to match you up to a car nearby.
Blue and orange makes green!
We love ideas that help our members get around town faster, greener and for a great price – and so does Melbourne Bike Share! With 600 blue bikes and over 50 stations in Melbourne’s CBD, it’s a great, quick way to zoom around town!
Melbourne Bike Share is now offering GoGet members a very special deal to get your wheels in motion – the first 200 GoGet members to sign up to Melbourne Bike Share will receive a free annual subscription, saving you $54! Check MBS’s website for usage rates.
If you don’t have your own helmet, you can pick up a blue MBS helmet from a GoGet car near one of the 51 Bike Share stations next time you have a booking on that car. Just help yourself to a helmet from the boot and get riding!
To take up this great offer, call Melbourne Bike Share on 1300 711 590. With only 200 free annual subscriptions to give away, you’d better get in quick!
Volunteer for Grow It Local
This year, Grow It Local is providing fresh produce for TEDxSydney 2013 at the Sydney Opera House on May 4. TEDxSydney is an invitation-only event that spreads ideas worth sharing through talks and performances.
GoGet is providing Grow It Local with five utes and vans between Wednesday May 1 and Friday May 3, but we need people to drive them! If you’re in Sydney and have some time to spare, you can volunteer to drive our vans and collect locally grown produce from Sydney pick-up points and drop it off to ARIA catering for Matt Moran and his team of chefs to prepare meals for TEDxSydney.
The five members who volunteer the most hours will receive a free ticket to TEDxSydney, worth $220! Any members who volunteer will receive some GoGet driving credit to say thanks! If you don’t get a free ticket, but still want to go, you can apply for a TEDxSydney invitation – mention you’re a Grow It Local driver and it might tip the scales in your favour!
If you’re interested in volunteering, send us an email and let us know when and where you’re available!
Where’s Shebeen all my life?
GoGet is thrilled to team up with Shebeen – Australia’s first not-for-profit bar! Now open at 36 Manchester Lane, Melbourne, Shebeen serves exotic beer and wine from developing regions all over the world, with all the profits from every glass going to a good cause in that beverage’s country of origin.
“We’ve been picking up a lot of furniture, lumber and other materials prior to opening, and food and other stock almost daily since opening,” said Simon Griffiths, founder of Shebeen (pictured). “Using GoGet has given us the flexibility to choose between cars, vans and utes depending on the job, and helps us avoid expensive CBD parking.”
Check it out and get yourself a nice cold one – it’s for a good cause, after all!
New cars and pods
Thanks to our council and development partners, we’ve added new cars into new pods in the following Melbourne locations:
Brunswick – Lygon Street
Collingwood – Oxford Street
Fitzroy – George Street near corner of Gertrude Street
Fitzroy – George Street near corner of Johnston Street
Fitzroy – Napier Street near Kerr Street
Tip of the Month
Some of our new Yarises (plural decided by our facebook vote, if you were wondering!) are fitted with Daytime Running Lights – these are safety lights that are permanently switched on to increase visibility. So if you notice your headlights are on while you’re driving, even though the switch is off, it’s a good thing! They’ve been shown to decrease the chance of an accident by 15 per cent!
Cool Things Members Are Doing
Every month we like to let you know about some of the cool things our members are doing. So if you have a story you’d like to share, shoot us an email.
Our cars and our members have all sorts of adventures together! This month, Mikael the Van helped Wendy Johns, a local artist from Alexandria in Sydney, safely get her Archibald Prize entry to the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Here’s Wendy with her portrait of Tim Derricourt, from the indie rock band Dappled Cities, from Sydney.
The Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes Exhibition is being held from March 23 to June 2 at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and while we don’t want to play favourites, we do have someone in mind for our people’s choice award!
That’s all from us this month. As always, if you have any feedback, tips or ideas, let us know!
