We have news from far and wide this month, with a great Oktoberfest deal for our GoOccasional and GoFrequent members, a roll out of universal phone holders in all our cars and more news on our move to go global! Well, to Hong Kong, at least. Check out our Specials board for a great deal on our daily rate – where will you GoGet to this month?
Look ma, no hands!
After a successful trial in our Sydney CBD cars, we’re installing universal phone cradles in all our cars! Now you can go hands-free with the best of them – just remember to take your phone with you when you leave. They will be installed over the next few weeks, so if your favourite car doesn’t have one yet, hold your breath just a little longer!
Start your weekend project early
Why wait until the weekend to start your DIY project? Start now so you can get it done during the week, then put your feet up and enjoy your handiwork on Saturday! Pick up a GoGet van from IKEA Rhodes or Tempe any time after 7pm on a weeknight and drop it off the next day before 10am and you’ll only pay $40 for the booking* – a saving of $45! This deal only applies to vans parked at IKEA and bookings must be made in advance with our Member Services team over the phone. Call us on 1300 769 389 to make a booking and take up this offer. IKEA Rhodes and Tempe are open until 9pm on weeknights with GoGet vans available on-site, so you’ll have plenty of time to find what you’re looking for, set it up at home then return the van to IKEA before 10am the next morning. Remember to check the car park opening hours when you plan your trip.
(*Kilometre and optional insurance charges still apply.)
Every month, we have a new, special offer for our GoOccasional and GoFrequent members. It’s our way of giving you more for your membership! Our Audis are getting super excited about Oktoberfest, which kicks off this year on Saturday, September 21. To share the celebrations, we have a special deal for our GoOccasional and GoFrequent members. From now until the end of Oktoberfest on October 6, GoOccasional members can book any Audi (or Alfa) for one full day and only pay the day rate for an economy car. For our GoFrequent members, book any Audi or Alfa and you’ll receive two days in an Audi or Alfa for the price of an economy car – maybe treat yourself to a pretzel with the savings! Call us on 1300 769 389 to make a booking and take up this offer.
Introducing our new phone system
After ten years of dedicated service, our old phone system is going into retirement. It’s put in a lot of hard work over the years, but we noticed it was starting to drop the ball (and a few calls!) in its old age. All those switches, you see! We now have a brand new phone system, with a few new options to choose from and a new voice. We hope the new phone guy is just as good to listen to as the old one!
Could you be the voice of GoGet?
How do you say “GoGet” in Cantonese? As we get ready to expand to Hong Kong, we’re creating a “What is GoGet” video for our new website to introduce carsharing to Asia. You can check out our video here – just so you know, it’s in Mandarin! We’re looking for a member to help us with the Cantonese version of the video. If you’d like to do the voice over for the video, are based in Sydney and available for an hour or so on a weekday, send us your details. You’ll just read a short script and forever be immortalised as the voice of GoGet in Hong Kong!
Tip of the month
Still looking for the old white folder in the car to write down your damage report? You might be looking for a while – the old log books have been replaced with our shiny new Co-Pilots! In here, you’ll find all the information you need on where to fill up, how to let us know about damage and what to do in an emergency. You’ll also find the damage log in there, safe in its own little sleeve in the Co-Pilot.
By now we know how every GoGet car frees up more and more parking – so what to do with all those spaces? Park(ing) Day is a global event where artists, activists and citizens transform metered parking spaces into temporary public parks. On September 21, it’s coming to Sydney – three parking spaces on Australia St in Newtown will be converted by a team of locals into a space for people, not private vehicles. The team is looking for a few bits and pieces to help them with their project: they need about 50m² of astro-turf and a portable barricade (we’re thinking white-picket-fence- style!). If you can help, tell us what you have and we’ll let the organisers know so they can get in touch with you. Park(ing) Day is held in 162 cities in 35 countries around the world – come along to Newtown and be a part of this global event!
Win tickets to Antenna Film Festival

The Antenna team has given us double passes to give away to our members. To go in the draw to win, send us your answer to this question: Which film opens the Festival in Sydney on Wednesday, October 2? Don’t forget to check out the special talks and short film screenings at the Festival!

Cool things members are doing
Every month we like to let you know about some of the cool things our members get up to. So if you have a story you’d like to share, give us a bell.
All sorts of things get loaded into GoGet vans when they need to be moved, but the Australian Haydn Ensemble takes the award for most original! “We used Jean Claude the Van last month to move the harpsichord, which is the 18th century ancestor of the piano, from Sydney, to Canberra, to Bowral and back, performing at the Opera House as well,” said Skye McIntosh, Artistic Director of the Australian Haydn Ensemble, pictured here moving the harpischord with viola player James Eccles. The Ensemble performed The Prussian Prince at the Sydney Opera House last month with this 18th century harpsichord. “We’ll be using a GoGet van to move our historical pianos to our upcoming festival in the Yarra Valley,” said Skye. The Ensemble will be performing at the new Strathvea Festival of Chamber Music in the Yarra Valley on Saturday 21st September, performing a piano trio program of Haydn and Mozart on classical period instruments. Find out more about the Festival and book your tickets here!
Griffin Theatre winners
They’ve all won a double pass to Griffin Theatre after correctly answering this question: What mythical animal is half lion, half woman? with the correct answer: Sphinx! If you have any stories, ideas or suggestions from your travels that you’d like to share with us, we’d love to hear from you! Drive safely, Nic, Bruce and the GoGet team
