GoGet has launched an Australian first:
GoGet is proud to be part of an Australian first, bringing together visionary residential developments to solve a big city transport issue. With developers red.c, Michael L Yates & Co Pty Ltd and leading global supplier of technology and services, Bosch, GoGet has been able to bring a new Electric Vehicle to South Yarra, VIC. “There is no other place in Australia where an EV and petrol car share are parked, side by side, ready for immediate use,” said Bruce Jeffreys, co-founder of GoGet. “It is the first time we’ve seen multiple developers, four different buildings, create a car sharing network that unites the community and the developments. We believe this is what the future will look like.” The launch of the network on Monday, May 21 2012 at the Claremont, a 20-level residential development in South Yarra where the EV and Bosch charging station are housed, was attended by John Chandler, Mayor of Stonnington, and representatives from Bosch and the developers. Bruce said the GoGet network not only offers vehicle choice, it solves one of the big transport hurdles that face urban apartment dwellers in Melbourne today – how to have ready access to a vehicle when a parking space doesn’t come with your unit. “What we are seeing with this launch is developers making the leap: for car share to work for them, it has to work for the larger community – the car share vehicles in your parking garage need to be accessible to everyone,” Bruce said. “In other words, to supply those residents who buy the studio or one-bedroom apartments with genuinely attractive transport options, you need to open your doors and share cars with your neighbours.” The EV, a Mitsubishi i-MiEV powered by 100 per cent accredited green energy, is part of a fleet that offers access to other EVs, hybrids, and a range of petrol vehicles, many housed within a short walk of the Claremont.
