We have a lot of sharing on offer this month! Three bike mounts will be given to our most dedicated cyclist members, big savings are on offer for long bookings over Easter and Anzac Day, and we have a spooky deal on moonlight IKEA vans. In return, The Big Issue needs your input on a new project, we’d like your help with misplaced cars, and our engineering arm needs a talented developer to join their team. Pay it forward this month and, as always, keep on sharing!
Win a Seasucker Bike Mount
Our members use GoGet cars for all kinds of amazing things, and we think carshare should offer all the freedom of owning your own car. Things like bike racks have traditionally been a problem, but our friends at KOBiE have an excellent solution.
Seasucker is a special kind of vacuum seal mount, so strong they can grip onto a car’s exterior while holding a bike. They don’t damage cars or leave any marks (which makes us happy), and promise to hold safely onto your bike under high winds, car vibrations and quick changes in direction.
We have three Seasucker Talons to give away, at a value of $400 each. To prove your worthiness and win the prize, we want to see your total dedication to cycling. Get a photo of yourself in your best lycra, in the weirdest and funniest situation, and upload it to our Facebook page. We’ll be announcing the winners at the end of April.
KOBiE have also offered a 10% off voucher for GoGet customers! Have a look at the Seasucker range, watch their video, and enter “goget” at checkout to get your discount.
Just three work days separate the Easter and Anzac Day long weekends this year, which is a great opportunity to enjoy the remnants of good weather before winter sets in. Even if you didn’t get in early and book those days off, we’re offering a great deal for extended journeys over the entire period. For certain pods, you can pick up a car for 5 days, with at least 750km included, for an excellent price.
Thinking of heading interstate? GoGet has pods in other cities, perfect for a driving holiday to the Mornington Peninsula from Melbourne Airport, the Blue Mountains from Sydney, the Barossa Valley from Adelaide CBD, or the stunning Glass House Mountains from Brisbane.
Book 5 days or more between the 18th and 27th of April:
GoFrequent and GoOccasional members
$45 including 150km per day
$50 including 150km per day
To book your getaway, simply call our member services team on 1300 769 389 and mention the Autumn Holiday offer.
Included kilometres are averaged over the booking period. Extra kilometres are $0.25 per km. Optional damage cover reduction charge not included.

GeoNext Top Developer
The winner of the best use of GoGet’s anonymised data was crowned at the GeoNext Conference. Winning out over an impressive array of apps and tools was Treffyn Koreshoff, with a great little website for getting to know your local GoGet car.
Treffyn’s site – built around the idea that you always want to get to know your friends – generates a unique page for each car, drawing from information about the pod and the car itself to generate an individual story. As a prototype system, its capabilities are still open to imagination, so how would you like to get to know your favourite GoGet car better?
Tip of the Month
If you ever need to return your car to somewhere other than its pod, please let us know! Whether it’s across the road or down another street, we need to tell the next member where the car is temporarily resting. You can call us, but the easiest way is to text 0427 777 769 with the car’s name and new location.
When a car is out of its pod, it may be there a while, so you’ll need to find an unticketed, untimed spot. Some cars have a permit sticker, so check for the “permit holders excepted” sign.
Help GoGet Develop
Interested in working for GoGet?
Fleetcutter is the engineering arm of GoGet, working magic to make the complicated business of car share and fleet management easy for all of us. If you have a computer science or software engineering degree, good coding skills and an interest in geolocation, telephony and all the things that makes GoGet work behind the scenes, we want to hear from you. Check out the full job description.
Welcome to IKEA Logan!
In February we welcomed IKEA Logan to GoGet. As the only IKEA in Queensland, people come far and wide to visit the Logan store, and now they don’t have to rely on delivery services or their long suffering friend-with-a-ute.
To introduce Logan to the family, we have a special moonlight deal on all IKEA van bookings. Sneak into any IKEA after 7pm on a weeknight, pick up a van, and as long as you return it before 10am you only pay $40 in hourly charges.
It’s perfect if you’re a little too far away from IKEA for two return journeys in one day, and has the added bonus of freeing up your weekend for putting together and enjoying your new purchase.
Call us on 1300 769 389 to arrange the deal. IKEA car parks are not open 24 hours, so check the opening hours before you make your booking.
The Big Issue’s Big New Project
The Big Issue’s office in Redfern has an exciting new feature – a great new piece of street art! It was done in collaboration by Mike Watt, Sindy Sinn and John Vukovic, and features Big Issue vendors in brilliant portraits. They want to know what you think of it, so say whether you love it or hate it on their voting page. If you want to see it in person, just head down Little Eveleigh St off Redfern Station.
GoGet and The Big Issue go way back. They do a great job making up our member packs, and we want to support them in every way we can.
GoGetter Andrew Stevens descended upon Stanwell Tops with 430 kids, for the 2014 International Cadets Competition. Held by St John Ambulance, the competition brought kids together from all around Australia and the world, including South Africa, the Solomon Islands and Hong Kong.
While the cadets learnt leadership skills and tested themselves out, 5 GoGet cars were on hand to help the adults move everything around. Andrew has been involved with St John Ambulance for a long time, so we were happy to help however we could. To learn more about the cadet program and how you can contribute, check out the St John Cadet website.
Cool things our members are doing
We all throw away a lot of stuff. Tonnes of material, and millions of dollars of value, are buried in landfill every day. One member is trying to change this, by helping these thousands of unwanted things find a new lease on life.
Tushare makes sharing easy. It is a place where people give things that they no longer need to friends and neighbours. What is unique is that you can either pick the item up yourself, or TuShare can organise a door-to-door delivery service for you – only $10 to deliver anything up to 25kg in the same city.
Over 10,000 items have already appeared for free on TuShare – things like baby and maternal gear, where you only need an item for a fraction of its useful life. It’s also good for finding a loving home for unwanted gifts, upgraded electronics, sporting goods, and all your perfectly good stuff when you move in with someone or go overseas. We like TuShare’s approach – not only does giving save money and the planet, but it also makes us happy! You can see it your yourself at TuShare.
Remember, if there’s anything you’d like to share with us, let us know!
