This month, we welcome a new member to the GoGet family – he’s a real live-wire! We also have some bright ideas from our members that you can use to jump start your own big projects. Our latest tech project is almost ready to get out of the garage – find out how you can help test drive it! And if you’re a GoOccasional or GoFrequent member, now’s the time to start planning for the warmer months – we have a special extra driver deal this month, so start thinking about who you’ll take on your Spring road trip!
Stu the Prius (plug-in Prius, that is) is the newest member of GoGet’s fleet and received a very warm welcome in Coburg last month! Stu is the only plug-in Prius in Australia that is available to the public – they aren’t for sale in Australia yet. Thanks to our partners, GoGet members are the first to get behind the wheel of the latest cars! The Victorian Government, Moreland City Council, ChargePoint, Toyota and GoGet all came together to launch a new electric vehicle (EV) hub at Moreland City Council office. The new hub includes two standard EV chargers, one EV fast charger and our very own plug-in Prius. GoGet joined the Victorian Electric Vehicle Trial in 2011 with three EVs across Melbourne. The Electric Vehicle Trial will run until mid-2014 and is helping the Victorian Government gain a better understanding of how to introduce electric vehicle technology to Victoria. Check out our full range of EVs here!
Free extra driver sign up
Every month, we have a new special offer for our GoOccasional and GoFrequent members. It’s our way of giving you more for your membership! If there’s a spare spot on your account for an extra driver, now’s the time to fill it – for free! For the month of August, we’re offering a free extra driver signup for GoOccasional members (total of two drivers on your account), and up to two free signups for GoFrequent members (total three drivers on your account). Just call us to add the extra driver to your account and we’ll waive the $25 application fee. We’ll soon be introducing a new update to our booking system which will give our GoOccasional and GoFrequent members more convenience and flexibility with their bookings. Watch this space!
We hope this makes you ‘appy!
Your patience is being rewarded, GoGetters, with the announcement of the GoGet app! Our booking app is in the pipeline and to make sure it does everything it should and nothing it shouldn’t, we need a few keen volunteers to help us test it. We’re looking for about half a dozen iPhone users (baby steps, Android isn’t far behind!) to spend an hour or so testing out our app over a coffee at a café near our Glebe office in Sydney. If you’d like to be part of our first testing phase, just fill out this form to register your interest. We’ll then be in touch with you when the app is ready to go for a test drive. We’ll be doing more user testing as we get closer to launching the app, so if you can’t join us for a coffee, you can still be part of our beta team , no matter where you are! Fill out the form and we’ll let you know when we reach the next phase of testing.
Come and collaborate!
As a GoGet member, you’re already part of a huge collaborative consumption movement sweeping the globe. To help Sydney-siders find out more about other sharing and collaborative programs around town, City of Sydney is holding a free Green Village workshop this month. GoGetters are already ahead of the curb when it comes to sharing, but if you’re keen to learn about new ways to live more sustainably, head to the NG Gallery at 3 Little Queen St, Chippendale on Saturday 24 August from 2 to 5pm. Come along and find out how to shrink your environmental footprint, connect with your local community and get some great green-living ideas! As part of the workshop, GoGet will be part of a panel of sharing services. We’ll have one of our friendly staff members there to answer residents’ questions and we’re also looking for a member to join us on the day! If you’d like to share your GoGet story, answer some questions from interested locals and are available on Saturday 24 August from 2pm to 4pm, let us know! Send us your details and we’ll get in touch with more information about the event.
The next big thing
If you like your GoGet pods with lots of choices for cars and in a great location (who doesn’t?), our next GoGet instalment will tick all the boxes! There will soon be a mix of ten hatchbacks, wagons, premium cars, vans and utes to choose from at Clapton Place in Darlinghurst. We’ve teamed up with Strata Title Management to bring you our next big pod and offer residents of 1 Tawkesbury Avenue a great sign-up deal – keep an eye out for a little something in the mail if you’re a resident! We’re adding cars to developments all over Australia! If you’re a developer or manage a property, find out how GoGet can work in your building by checking out our website.

Tip of the month
We all know carsharing works best when members leave a car in a state they’d be happy to find it in – but we know that doesn’t always happen! If the car you’ve booked isn’t quite up to scratch, you can report it to us and we’ll give the member before you a friendly reminder to tidy up! Remember that if you leave the car in a condition you wouldn’t be happy to find it in, you may be liable for a cleaning fee.
Cool things members are doing
If you thought empty shop fronts and derelict buildings were just part of life in the city, Marcus Westbury and his team at Renew Australia are doing something to change that! They’ve been working for the last four years to transform empty shops and offices into beautiful creative spaces and local businesses. More than 130 projects, like Studio Melt Jewellery in Newcastle, NSW, have been set up in nearly 60 buildings around Australia, from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast and Adelaide to Parramatta. And GoGet is thrilled to be along for the ride! “The Renew Australia team spends a lot of time on the road and has been using GoGet since the very beginning as a simple and cost effective way to get around,” Renew Australia founder Marcus Westbury said. The next project for the Renew Australia team is to launch a Pozible crowd funding campaign to fund a book about the Renew experience called Creating Cities. If you’re interested in cities, culture, creativity and renewal, find out how you can get in early and help crowd fund the project.
