Happy New Year, GoGetters! 2014 is shaping up to be a great year, with more new members and new cars than ever! We’re thrilled to have hit 40,000 members – with a huge number of those members coming from the great buzz our members have been spreading. Thank you to all our members for making carshare your choice for getting around and helping reduce the number of cars cluttering our roads.
Check out our monthly specials board for a great deal on our daily rate, or make the most of the long weekend with our Australia Day special!
Australia Day special
The Australia Day Long Weekend is just around the corner – what better way to celebrate than to get out of the city, maybe hit a few beaches, camping spots or just see where the road takes you! To help you get there, we’ve worked out a great deal for our CBD cars (selected non-CBD pods are also discounted, give us a call to see what’s available near you). Pick up an economy car from the CBD on Friday 24 January, any time after 4pm and return it before 9am Tuesday 28 January and you’ll only pay:
- $180 for GoFrequent members (saving $96)
- $200 for GoOccasional and business members (saving $88)
- $240 for GoStarter members (saving $84)
You’ll get petrol and 150km per day included. (If you choose to reduce your insurance excess, there is a charge of $18/day)
To take up this deal, call us on 1300 769 389 to make a booking through our Member Services team.
We think GoGetters are a pretty adventurous bunch, but we want proof! Send in a photo of your long weekend GoGet adventures for your chance to win back the cost of your booking! We’ll choose our favourite and the winner will receive their booking for free! Send your photos to firstname.lastname@example.org or upload them to our Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages.
And the best dressed ute is…
Last month, our three Sydney offices went head to head to decorate three utes in the Christmas spirit, each playing for a different charity. Our Facebook fans voted for their favourite ute – and congratulations to our Member Services team! Their ute won our Best Dressed competition, which means the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, which supports people living with HIV and AIDS, will receive a donation to the value of the three utes’ December revenue – that’s $2031!
It’s the time of year when everyone is making resolutions and knuckling down to cross off their to-do list before the New Year motivation wears out. If your list has things like clean out the garage (since not having a car in there means a lot more storage space!), trimming and tidying the backyard or upping stumps altogether, we think you’ll need something tough for the job. That’s why we’re reducing our utes to the price of our economy cars (so no extra $2/hour charge). Until the end of Summer, you can book one of these hard workers to help you with those bigger jobs – sorry if that means you’ve run out of excuses!
If you’re cleaning out a load of electronic waste, check out our link below for information on how it can be recycled.
IKEA Springvale is now home to three GoGet vans, parked onsite near the goods lift in Section B.
If you have driven to IKEA Springvale in another (GoGet!) vehicle, you can park in the car park for free while you use a GoGet van or wagon to get your IKEA goodies home.
Calling all expats, students, under 25s and movers!
With 40,000 members, just about every nation in the world is represented in the GoGet community. That’s why we want to know more about how our foreign friends and adopted Australians use GoGet. If you’d like to share your carsharing experiences, click here to tell us about it. We’ll use the information you give us to let other expats know how carsharing can work for them.
We also want to hear from students and GoGetters under 25 to find out about how you use carshare.
If you’ve used a van or ute to move house recently, we want to hear about your experience too!
Just click on the links above to fill out a quick questionnaire. You may even get to feature on our website as a GoGet Ambassador!
Hey, sleepy head!
Fatigue is one of the top three killers on our roads, along with speeding and drink driving. Crashes due to tiredness are twice as likely to be fatal than other crashes – because you can’t brake when you’re asleep.
Transport for NSW has created a fun interactive test you can take before getting behind the wheel – it only takes a few minutes and it could save your life. Visit www.testyourtiredself.com.au to take the test and get some tips to avoid driving tired.
Alternatively, visit the NSW Centre for Road Safety website for more helpful information.
City of Sydney battery recycling
Old phones, dead batteries and light bulbs tend to pile up around the house, since they can’t be thrown away or recycled like regular household waste. If you’ve been saving up your old lightbulbs and e-waste for the chance to dispose of them properly, now’s the time!
The City of Sydney has opened recycling stations across the city where you can drop off your batteries, phones and light bulbs. They’ll then be recycled into new phones, glass wool insulation or taken apart for bits of gold, silver, copper and mercury. To find out where to take your e-waste, check out the City of Sydney’s website.
Tip of the month
To make sure we get 2014 off on the right foot, remember to take all your rubbish with you when you leave a GoGet car. That means all coffee cups, plastic bags and anything else you wouldn’t like to find in a car.
Remember that if you leave the car in a condition you wouldn’t be happy to find it in, you may be liable for a cleaning fee.

Cool things members are doing
Every month we like to let you know about some of the cool things our members get up to. If you have a story you’d like to share, let us know.
Melbourne-based GoGet member, Athan Didaskalou loves coffee (like most Melburnians and Sydney-siders!). But with so many options for great coffee, he decided there had to be a way to try them all and find the best. That’s why he started Three Thousand Thieves!
TTT is a monthly coffee membership. Every month, Athan and his team hunt down and curate Melbourne’s best artisan roasters and their story and then deliver it straight to your door. Not only is it great for coffee drinkers, but the roasters also get to share their coffee with customers Australia-wide. New beans, new brands, every month.
If you’d like to discover some of Melbourne’s amazing artisan coffee roasters, wherever you are in Australia, sign up to receive a monthly delivery of delicious coffee every month.
Remember, if there’s anything you’d like to share with us, let us know!
