A weekend away on the Tweed Coast

The Tweed Coast is a stunning region of Queensland, located just south of the Gold Coast. With its pristine beaches, lush rainforest, and charming seaside towns, it's the perfect destination for a relaxing weekend away. Here are some recommendations of how you can spend your weekend away on the Tweed Coast. All that’s left is to book a GoGet, crank some tunes and hit the road!

Visit the beaches

The Tweed Coast is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia. Head to Kingscliff Beach, a popular spot for swimming, surfing, and sunbathing, or visit the secluded Cabarita Beach for a peaceful day by the water. If you want to see some stunning coastline views, be sure to take the easy walk up to the Fingal Head Lighthouse. You definitely won’t regret it!

Enjoy the local cuisine

Tweed Coast is home to a thriving food scene, with a range of restaurants, cafes, and local markets serving up fresh and delicious cuisine. Some of our favourite sports for food and drinks include:

  • Husk Distillers: They produce Rum and Gin and are especially famous for their delicious purple ink gin. This distillery is also a great place to visit for lunch or dinner.

  • The Salt Mill: A fabulous little hole in the wall serving the acai bowl from your dreams. Highly recommend! One of the GoGet team (me!) says it’s the best acai they’ve ever had.

  • Halcyon House: Indulge in an afternoon cocktail from Halcyon House in Cabarita. They are home to the largest selection of Australian made gins in the country, featuring over 120! And if you’re feeling especially fancy, why not stay overnight? Each room is individually designed and the interiors are incredible.

Visit M-Arts Precinct

The M-Arts precinct in Murwillumbah is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in art and design. This creative hub is home to a variety of artists, designers, and makers, and features a range of galleries, studios, and creative spaces. Take a stroll through the precinct to discover unique artworks and handmade goods, or participate in a workshop or event. Be sure not to miss the M-Arts Gallery or the vintage finds at The Collective. The M-Arts precinct is a vibrant and inspiring destination that showcases the best of the region's creative talent.

Go whale watching

Tweed Coast is one of the best places in Australia to go whale watching. Take a whale watching tour from Tweed Heads or Kingscliff and experience the thrill of seeing these majestic creatures up close. From May to November, humpback whales migrate along the coast, making for a truly unforgettable sight.
